Pastor John Austin Chatman, Jr.

 

John A. Chatman, Jr., is the newly appointed pastor of the Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ in Yuma, Arizona where he serves tirelessly and faithfully with much joy and enthusiasm.  Pastor Chatman has a great passion for God's people and for the up building of God's Kingdom.  Pastor Chatman has been saved for 30+ years and testifies faithfully how the Lord has saved him from a life of destruction and shame. 

 

Pastor Chatman is a graduate from Moody Bible Institute where he majored in Divinity. He also attended the InterCity Baptist Theologian Bible Institute in Allen Park, Michigan majoring in Christian Counseling and Theology before relocating to Yuma, Arizona.  He also has taken courses at Washtenaw Community College in Business Law and Welding.  He believes in being completely furnished and equipped to help God’s people in every area of their lives.  He served his country in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge and other accolades. 

 

In 2003-2009 Pastor Chatman served as the Pastor at the New Mt. Zion Church of God in Christ, Detroit, Michigan and has worked in the community in the clean up efforts and out reach services to the community to help men, women, boys and girls.  In 2005 he organized a small group of parishioners from his congregation to distribute school supplies to low income families in the community and encouraged the households to invest in their children’s education.

 

Pastor Chatman is a retired Quality Control Specialist from a well established company in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

 

Pastor Chatman was raised in holiness by his God fearing parents (Pastor John A. Chatman, Sr. and Missionary Annie Chatman) which both have gone on to be with the Lord.  His parents instilled Christian values and God’s Word in his life.  He is the only son and has two living sisters whom both serves the Lord.

                

Pastor Chatman is happily married to Evangelist Kathy D. Chatman (his helpmate in the Gospel) and has three children (Clois, Austin and Justin); one foster son (Chad); a grandson (Jayden) whom he loves dearly.

 

The scripture that he keeps close to his heart is Lamentation 3:21-23 (verses 22 and - (It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness).  Pastor Chatman never ceased to give God all the praises and the glory for what he has done in his life and yet still doing.  He considers himself to be a living testimony of God’s love, faithfulness and forgiveness.  He is a teacher and a preacher of the Gospel and loves to pray until the Glory of God comes in.  He is an anointed and holy man on business for the King.
